Battenberg ROBOTIC presented two milestones at the Aviation Forum 2023 with the RobSimulation software and RobMobil mobile robotic measuring

The virtual simulation for the optical measurement of aircraft surfaces using a 3D scanning process and the direct execution with RobMobil can be carried out more quickly and reduce the effort and costs for the entire measurement process.

RobMobil is a mobile, self-navigating carrier platform (AMR) with an integrated 7-axis cobot, an adapted 3D scanner and measurement optics on the robot hand. With RobMobil's DigitalTwin and the CAD data of the measurement objects, RobSimulation generates, simulates and optimizes measurement processes. The simulation results are transferred directly to RobMobil for real execution, eliminating the time-consuming manual programming on site.

Calibration into the real measurement object is automatic and the autonomous RobMobil (AMR) with the 3D scanner autonomously scans the programmed scan areas. Geometric measurement tasks on large aircraft parts or the inspection of assembled parts, such as rivets, can be generated offline in advance, simulated and tested before the real measurement objects are available. Changes and additions can be processed again with RobSimulation at any time and the new measurement task can be transferred to RobMobil.

With the use of RobSimulation and RobMobil, the time required for measurement preparations is significantly reduced, recurring measurements can be carried out transparently and reproducibly, all of which result in high cost savings.
